Fundraiser Giveaway for Silas!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone!

This is going to be short because I really have to study for my classes...

But I wanted to tell you that good things are happening for Silas!

Sweet Silas is an intelligent little boy who has been relegated to a mental institute because of his cerebral palsy and he really needs a family!  He needs to get out of the institution and into a home where he can grow and blossom and become all that he can be!

Silas is blessed because Steph, saw his sweet face, and determined that he must be rescued!  She has planned a great giveaway to raise money for his adoption grant fund!

The more money that is raised, the easier it will be for a family to go rescue him!

You can help by making a donation of any size, and by sharing the giveaway with as many people as possible - blogs, facebook, twitter... they all help!  You never know which of your friends may be able to help - who knows, maybe one of them could be Silas' Mom or Dad!

The giveaway features:

A Kindle Fire, I-pod Nano, 2 I-pod shuffles (one of which is specifically reserved for someone who shares, on facebook, blogs, or twitter, etc!) a cute children's hat made by Sarah, and more...

Please go to Steph's blog for details and a more complete list of gieaway items (with pictures too) and to let Steph know you donated or shared so she can add you to the drawing for the giveaway!

Here is a link where you can read more about Silas and donate to his fund at Reece's Rainbow!  (Donations are tax deductible in the US!)

You can also grab Silas' Giveaway button for your blog (just copy the code below the button)!

Thanks so much for helping in whatever way you are able!

And remember, prayer is a great way to help too!

Help Them Join the Club!

Here is Sharing Sunday post number 2!

I wanted to tell you about a neat fundraiser that Jenny is doing over at Zero the Zeros!

Jenny has a heart for the big kids at Reece's Rainbow!

She noticed many children who were 6 years old or older...

Who had $0 dollars in their grant funds...

And she set out to make a change!

Her first goal was to get rid of all those zeros!

And she has been successful!

All the children ages 6 and older that have grant funds now have at least a little money in their funds!

Isn't that great!

But Jenny is not stopping yet!

She has set a new goal!

That goal is for each child ages 6 and up to have at least $20 in their grant fund by Easter!

It's a big job - but very possible if we all help!

Can you help at least one child join Jenny's $20 club?

Here are a few of the kids who need to join the club...

Carter and  Nathan  $6 each...

Russ and Marcus - $10 each...

Jason - $11

Jason is in a remote institution and needs to be set free!

Look at that beautiful smile!

Silas - $11

Darling boy!

A fundraiser especially for Silas is coming soon (stay tuned for more details)!

Joey - $5

Patrick - $11

Glenn - $5

Can you help one of these boys join the $20 club?

Or go to one of the following links and choose a child, any child who has less than $20 in his or her fund!

Children with Down Syndrome

Children with HIV

Children with Other Special Needs

Help a child join the club today!

Follow Jenny's blog to stay up to date with how the fundraiser is going!

Here are a couple of her recent posts!

Heal Her Heart!

I had a different post in mind for sharing Sunday...

But  then I saw this sweet girl...

And her sad story...

And I just had to tell you about her!

This is beautiful Carissa...

Because of her premature birth she had vision problems...

She and her twin sister were placed in an orphanage together when they were newborns...

They stayed there for some time...

Then their aunt took them to live with her.

Unfortunately Carissa did not receive necessary medical care and lost what vision she had.

After staying with their aunt for 3 years the girls were placed in an orphanage again (when they were 6 years old).

At some point the girls were separated...

Because Carissa is blind she had to go to a different orphanage than her sister ...

Her sister has since been adopted....

Poor Carissa was so lonely....

She lost the one person who had been with her her whole life...

She was in shock at the drastic changes in her life and regressed significantly...

The internat staff thought she was unable to talk or move...

From her profile...

"Before going to the internat she was walking by the hand, reacted to outside world and recognised people.   Not only did she talk, but she was singing! Now she had no motivation to sing, to move, to talk.  The girl refused food.  During four months in internat she literally become a skeleton."

From a happy, singing girl to a SKELETON!

Too heartbroken and depressed to eat!

Poor, poor child!

Carissa has since been taken to a city for medical help and has improved to the point of sitting up and eating some...

But she cannot walk because of weakness...

Sweet Carissa...

Desperately needs a family to love her...

To make her their own...

To heal her broken heart...

And restore her joy...

So she will have the heart to sing again!

Please pray for Carissa and share her story!

You can read more about Carissa HERE!

Update!

New picture of Carissa!

Doesn't she look lonely?

She is now able to have her own grant fund at Reece's Rainbow!

So far it has $24 in it...

Can you help it grow?

How do you know?

How do you know when you are growing up?

What lets you know you are maturing?

Is it the birthdays coming year by year...

Or is it...

Learning to ride a bike...

The first day of school...

or learning to read?

Is it when Mom lets you stay up an hour longer with the grown-ups when the little ones have to go to bed?

Is it that first after school job of raking the neighbor's leaves...

or graduating from 8th grade...

or the first day of high school?

The milestones met one by one...

Should make you feel more and more grown up!

But what would happen if you were deprived of the opportunity to meet these common milestones?

What would happen if you sat in a crib day after day...

Long after you had outgrown it?

What if you had no opportunity to even start school...

[Because your LEGS (not your mind) didn't work right!]

When you should be finishing 8th grade...

Or starting high school?

Would you feel that same sense of "growing up?"

If your birthdays were unnoticed...

Each day passing with monotony and sameness...

With nothing to occupy your mind or engage your curiosity...

No new responsibilities to challenge you and make you feel grown up...

What would that be like?

Instead of looking forward to your 16th birthday in a couple years...

When you could get your driver's license...

Your16th  birthday would be a day to look forward to with dread...

It would be the end of hope for you...

No more chance or opportunity to have a family...

To get an education...

Or a job when you grew up?

Can you imagine?

I can't...

Sweet, intelligent Emmitt is in this situation!

Today is his Birthday...

He's 14 today!

He's been waiting far too long...

I don't know what learning opportunities he may have had as a young child in a baby house...

But he has now been in a mental institution (because his LEGS don't work well!) for many years...

Deprived of a loving family...

Deprived of education...

Deprived of therapy...

Deprived of the opportunity to meet those milestones...

That would make him feel grown up!

At 14 years old...

He should be looking forward to starting high school soon...

But instead he sits in a baby's bed...

Waiting for someone to see his potential...

And get him out of there!

And give him the opportunity to grow into a man...

Is there any way you could be his Mom or Dad?

If not, could you share his story...

Pray for him...

And add even a few dollars to his grant fund?

In two years dear Emmitt will be too old to be adopted...

Without hope of release from the institution...

Without hope of a life of opportunity...

In bed for the rest of his life...

Let's not let that happen!

Bethany - Waiting Again :( (Update - found again March 2012!!!)

When I was looking for sweet Tina's picture for my last post...

I came across dear Bethany...

I rejoiced when this sweet girl appeared on the My Family Found Me page not so long ago...

But now she is no longer there...

She's waiting again :(

Bethany is a super intelligent girl...

She will make her family proud...

She has a lot of charm and love to give!

She even has a large grant fund...

$12,339.60

Her profile has lots of great information about her!

You can read about her here!

There is even a video about her...

(The link to the video is in her profile...)

It's in Russian, but you can still see her cuteness!

Please consider sweet Bethany!

And pray her family finds her soon!

Sad Little Faces

I've seen this face before...

And even used it in some of my posts that featured multiple children...

The sweet little one with the sad eyes...

Saying, "Will they ever come for me?"

Then recently these sad words from her profile caught my eye...

"Regrettably, this orphanage is one of the poorer ones, with very little outside aid and very little hope.  All of the children are tiny and undernourished.  These children are immediately transferred at 4, and have little chance of survival where they are sent  All of our waiting children need families, but these have a critical need.  Please consider one of these children soon!!"

LITTLE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL!

What terrible words!

Dear little Tina does not have a bright or long future to look forward to...

UNLESS someone sees her value and gives her a new future...

A family of her own...

Enough good food to eat...

Love and tender care...

Please consider sharing Tina's story!

Maybe you or one of your friends could be her Mama!

If you don't know her Mama...

Maybe you can help her get one by adding a dollar or two (or more!) to her grant fund...

So far she has $2,010...

A nice start - but more will be needed!

If her fund grows maybe someone will have courage to choose her!

Thanks for helping Tina in whatever way you are able!

Your prayers are the best gift of all!

And let me add one more sweetie to this post...

Little Giselle...

Is in the same orphanage as Tina...

She has many challenges...

One of which is severe malnutrition...

She surely will not survive long once she is transferred...

...and her transfer is EMINENT!

She has only $24.50 in her grant fund...

Please pray for Giselle...

She needs a Mama desperately!

You can read more about Giselle or donate to her fund here!

Heartwarming Story!

I found an amazing and heartwarming video while reading Carrington's blog!

It is the beautiful story of 8 year old Conner doing triathlons...

His little brother has Cerebral Palsy...

But Conner won't leave him behind...

So they race together!

Conner would rather skip the race himself than leave his brother behind...

Such a beautiful story!

I hope you have time to watch!

(Sorry, there's a very short ad at the beginning of the video - the story is worth the wait!)

Silas has Cerebral Palsy too...

I wish he had a brother like that!

A brother who would stick up for him...

And love him...

No matter what!

You can help Silas find a family by praying for him...

Donating to his adoption fund...

And sharing his story!

Special Day - Special Girl!

I'm not sure exactly when...

I'm not sure exactly which day...

But one day this month...

Dear Janna has (or had) a Birthday!

Seven years old!

What a big girl!

If she lived in a family she might be in first or second grade...

Learning to read...

Playing dolls with a friend...

Listening to grandpa tell stories...

Her life could be happy and bright...

But she lives in an orphanage...

I wonder if she ever gets out of that bed?

Does any one ever smile at her or tell her she is important and special?

This sweet seven year old girl was born with a congenital anomaly of the brain...

What a scary sounding problem!

A problem that in her country sentenced her to an orphanage...

With the probability of transfer to an institution...

Where she will likely spend the rest of her life IN BED!

But if she only had love, encouragement, therapy, and opportunity...

She just might surprise you with what she can do and learn and be!

Who will give her a chance?

Dear Janna,

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Know that you are special!

I pray that your Mama and Papa will see you soon!

That your sweet smile will capture their hearts...

That they will see beyond your bed and diagnosis...

That they will see your potential...

And give you the chance to show them what you can do...

And give you the love you've been waiting for so long!

Click here to read Janna's profile or donate to her adoption grant fund!

Click here to find out adoption requirements and see if you qualify!

Could you be her Mom or Dad?

The Gift of a Grandma

Some time ago a group of Ladies from England decided to make a difference in the lives of Bulgarian orphans.  They decided to sell handbags to provide and support Baba's (Grandma's) for severely neglected orphans.  Here is more information about this exciting program!

Imagine what it must mean for these children who have spent the majority (if not all) there lives confined to bed!  Nothing to do.  Laying in there own waste for hour after hour with only one clean diaper per day.  Not enough food to eat.  Some weigh only 10-25 even at the age of 9, 10, or even older.  Mere skeletons with breath in them.  Emaciated silent children who have learned long ago that no one will respond if they cry - so they remain silent.

Imagine what it must mean for them to receive a Baba.  For two hours a day, five days per week they are given individual attention, a clean diaper, love and attention, time outside their crib.  Imagine what a difference a Baba can make to these children!

Here is one woman's impression after visiting the orphanage, meeting children, and seeing the Baba's at work.

The article titled "We can make a difference" was written in 2009.  I encourage you to read it if you have time!

Here are some ways you can help provide Baba's for these desperately needy children!

Buy a handbag:

This is the Tabitha Bag.

Click here to order or for more information!

The Emma Bag

Click here to order or learn more!

The purchase of one handbag provides a needy child with SIXTY HOURS of Grandma time!

That is 6 weeks of love (10 hours per week)!

Dear little Katie received the benefit of a Baba before she came home.

Here is a post by her Mama that led me to the site about the Baba Program and the handbags.
(The post is in a question & answer format with a couple of questions about Baba's)

Save Valentine! (Updated!)

(In light of new developments I've added an EXCITING update to Valentine's story and a plea for another dear little boy I'd like you to meet...  The update is at the end, but if you haven't read the original post already I hope you will take time to read from beginning to end to get the full impact!)

(Original Post First)

Want to know what a "laying" room does to a child?

What happens when a child spends all their days in bed...

With no stimulation except banging their head or biting the bars of their crib?

This is Valentine

See his beautiful smile...

See his intelligent eyes...

Valentine has been in the laying room for a year...

Two families adopted children from that room...

They testify that he was intelligent and interactive about a year ago...

They saw him.

How he must have  longed to get out of that crib...

Please read Autumn's (Bohdan's Mama) and Carey's (Julia's Mama) posts about him!

They met him!

Last week a family met him...

And he was a different child...

He had regressed significantly...

His eyes are more vacant now...

He bangs his head for stimulation...

He screams...

The laying room and the boredom...

Have caused this sweet intelligent boy to regress and deteriorate terribly!

He had family that planned to adopt him...

But because of his regression they felt they were not able to give him the level of care that he now needs...

They are devastated...

Please pray for them!

You can read what they wrote about him on their blog...

And leave them a word of encouragement!

And please pray for Valentine!

There IS hope for him!

Here he is last week trying to color...

He needs a special family...

To encourage him...

And help him to heal...

So he can recover and learn and grow!

He needs OUT of that crib!

Before long he will be transferred to an institution...

What will happen to him then?

How long can he survive the deprivation?

Please someone...

Save him!

And before you despair...

And think that Valentine is now a hopeless case...

Please go to this blog...

And read about Seth!

He was institutionalized...

But is making great progress now that he has a family to love and encourage him!

Here is Seth before transfer...

Here he is the day his family met him at the institution...

How could he not regress when he had to sit here everyday?

With nothing to do but listen to the moans and groans of his companions...

And watch them writhing in misery?

But...

With the love of a family...

He is progressing!

Here he is with his brother after being home for a little over a month...

Feeding himself AGAIN...

A skill he LOST in the institution...

Learning to walk...

Here's what his mama says about him!

Seth is starting to speak English, and he understands us.  He is wearing his glasses most of the day.  He has AFO's.  He's playing with toys, engaging with his brothers, laughing more, sleeping well, understanding what it means to be loved and learning more every day.

See what love has done for Seth!

There IS hope for Valentin too!

Please help save him!

Here are some ways you can help!

Pray...

Donate to his fund...

Advocate for him on blogs, facebook, etc...

And if perchance he could be your son...

Please don't delay!

He needs to come home ASAP...

Before it's too late!

You can find his Reece's Ranbow profile here!

(End of Original Post)

EXCITING UPDATE!!!!!!!

I found out yesterday that Valentine has a family who plan to adopt him!
(I learned this from this blog! I read another post with more information here today.)

And Valentine is on the My Family Found me Page today!!!!

You can read his family's blog here!!!

I wrote this post earlier this week and planned to link it up on the Forget-Me-Not Friday linkup...

This little boy needed the word spread...

He needed a family ASAP!!!

Before Forget-ME-NOT Friday came, however, God had already answered our prayers!

I am linking this up anyway for a few reasons...

1.  Valentine still needs donations to his fund and prayers for a speedy adoption process so he can come home ASAP!  (His family has completed TWO adoptions in the last couple of years - the most recent adoption was in October 2011.  They would be greatly blessed by any donations you can give to help with the Valentine's adoption expenses!)

2. And so you can rejoice with me at God's answer to our prayers!

3.  I didn't get another post written yet, just arrived home from vacation this evening, and am exhausted., so I want to save the writing of a new post for another time...

4. And many other children are in laying rooms and institutions...

They need to be rescued too - and there is hope for their improvement as Seth's story illustrates (See original post above for more links & pictures of Seth!)...

For example...

Consider sweet Silas!

How is it that no one has yet chosen this darling little boy?

From his profile...

"Silas is a handsome little boy with brown hair and big brown eyes.  He is affectionate and has a glowing personality.   He is engaging, alert, and aware....

"Silas has already been transferred to the institution, and will remain bedridden the rest of his life is he is not adopted soon."

These words were written some time ago...

Silas is now 7 years old...

I hope he still has his sparkle...

I hope that the institution and life in bed have not stolen all his hope...

Silas has $11 dollars in his grant fund...

He needs a lot more!

Please pray for Silas!

Pray that his dismal life does not crush his spirit...

Pray that a family chooses him soon - before it's too late...

Donate if your are able!

Share Silas' story and picture and Reece's Rainbow Link...

I'd love to see him on the my family found me page and to watch him blossom with the love of a family!  Wouldn't you?
