Imagine being an orphan...
Because you have no family...
You live in a state institution...
Even if your caregivers are kind...
They are likely very busy with many other children...
So there is little time for you to get one-on-one special attention...
You wonder if you really matter to anyone...
Occasionally a family will come to adopt one of your best friends at your orphanage...
The family spends one on one time with your friend...
They bring fun toys...
They shower the him with love...
And promise him that one day soon they will get on an airplane together and take him to their home far away...
And promise him that he will have a loving home with them forever...
They have a picture book that shows your what his new home will be like...
It has pictures of his bedroom where he will sleep...
The dining room table where he will sit with his new family and eat delicious meals prepared by his very own mother...
Their are pictures of the family's backyard where he will get to play ball and ride bikes with his new brothers...
Their are pictures of each member of his new family...
Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters, and grandparents too!
When the family goes back to their hotel for the night your friend shows you his picture book...
And while you are happy for your friend you have a secret longing...
That someday soon a family will come for you too!
Soon your friend goes away with his new family and you are left behind to wait for your turn...
Often when you are sleeping you dream that the day has arrived...
Your family has come at last!
But then...
Just when you are about to get in the car to go home with them...
You wake up and realize it was just a dream...
As the years go by you begin to worry that no one will want you...
After all you are getting older and older...
And it seems like the families usually come for the younger kids...
You begin to worry about the future...
Soon it will be time to graduate from the orphanage...
And you have no idea what you will do, where you will sleep, or how you will find food...
It is a very frightening thought!
But then...
The summer when you are 15...
A mission group comes to do a program at your institution...
And there is a special Mom and daughter in the group who befriend you...
You miss them when the group goes back home...
But then...
One day you are told that this family...
This family wants to adopt YOU!!!!
Your dream is actually coming true...
You will be a loved and cherished son...
You will have parents who will love you forever...
Who will guide you as you transition to adulthood...
You will have sisters and a brother...
A home where you belong...
Soon...
They just have some paperwork to do...
They have to wait for the legal processes to be completed...
And a court to make it official...
Oh...
And money will have to be raised to pay for the legal costs and travel expenses...
But soon...
Soon the day will come...
You will be going home with a family that truly loves you, yes YOU!!!
At last you have hope for the future...
Your dreams are about to come true!

While I don't know all the thoughts in Jonathon's heart...
Having the love and security and sense of belonging that comes from having a family is a very basic need that most of us take for granted...
Many of us can hardly relate to the reality of having no one to call your own...
No place where you truly belong...
Where you are loved for who you are with no strings attached...
But Jonathon has faced this empty feeling for a very long time...
But thankfully, for Jonathon, his dream for a family is finally coming true!
He has wonderful parents who have chosen to make him their son...
They are working hard on the paperwork...
And trying to raise funds to help cover the adoption and travel costs...
So that soon (hopefully in about 6-8 weeks) they can travel to his country to complete the process to make him officially their son!
Please pray for Jonathon and the Turner family during this time...
And if you are able...
Consider making a tax deductible donation to their adoption account at Reece's rainbow...
The family is also selling T-shirts to help bring him home!
(I don't think T-shirt funds are tax deductible... but you will have a shirt to remember him by!)

I believe they have to sell a minimum of 10 shirts (of a particular design) in order to have the shirts made...
And they are short of that goal at this time...
So far 2 of the black "I will not leave you orphans" shirts and 3 of the superman shirts have been committed to...
Can you help?
Your prayers, shares, and loving donations...
Will help Jonathon's dream come true!
And the Turner family will be so grateful for your help and prayers!

Jonathon was featured on my blog today because his Mom won my drawing by sharing my sweet boys!
